About Dr. Janet Black
Dr. Black was born in Detroit, Mi. She grew up in the suburb of St. Clair Shores, MI where she graduated from Lake Shore High School.
Dr. Black received her pre-medical requirements at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She attended Des Moines University (formerly known as University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences) in Des Moines, IA for the required four post-graduate years obtaining her D.P.M. degree in 1986. Dr. Black completed a two year podiatric surgical residency at Florida Hospital East in 1988 after the required monthly rotations in the following specialties: Orthopedics, internal medicine, general surgery, emergency room and anesthesia. Dr Black also completed rotations in neurology, dermatology, rheumatology, plastic surgery and hand surgery. The remaining months were spent assisting in foot and ankle surgery at the various local hospitals.
Dr. Black was the first woman to be accepted to the residency program at Florida Hospital East, the first woman podiatrist on staff at area hospitals, and among the first in solo practice in the Orlando area where she practiced for eight years.
Dr. Black has practiced in Eustis, Tavares and Mount Dora area since 1996. She has been in solo private practice since 2000.
Dr. Black is currently Board Certified in Foot Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is a member of the American Podiatric Medical association and Florida Podiatric Medical Association. She is currently on staff at Florida Hospital Waterman.
Making an Appointment
Dr. Black’s patients are usually seen on an appointment basis. Please remember to call in advance so that time with the doctor may be reserved especially for you. The office telephone number is 352-385-9156. Every effort is made to have the doctor see you on time, and we ask that you extend the same courtesy to her by arriving at the scheduled hour. Often, emergencies arise, and we will keep you informed of any delays. Please let the receptionist know if the delay causes a problem for you and she will be happy to reschedule your appointment at a more convenient time. Your cooperation is always appreciated.
Fees and Payments
Every effort is made to keep down the cost of your medical care. Payment is expected at the time services are rendered. Certain exceptions to direct payment may be made prior to your appointment for more involved or expensive office procedures. We accept cash, checks, MasterCard and VISA. Dr. Black participates with the Medicare program and accepts assignment. Our office accepts most insurance. Check with our receptionist if you have any questions.
